Storm De Beul, a nature lover who ‘enjoyed being alone’, was found dead in Lapland on October 30.
Hiking alone in the icy regions of Swedish Lapland, a 22-year-old Belgian YouTube named Storm De Beul tragically lost his life in a strong snowfall. The YouTuber, known for posting about his adventurous travels on the internet, sent a ‘hearbreaking’ last message to his grandmother before he died due to the heavy snowfall.
According to Daily Mail, Storm De Beul, a nature lover who ‘enjoyed being alone’, was found dead in Lapland on October 30 after spending much of the year hiking solo through the remote Jokkmokk region.
Beul called the emergency services around 2 am as the situation kept worsening. He also requested assistance as soon as possible as he was feeling some injuries, but the rescuers were unable to reach him because of the relentless snowfall.
De Beul had been walking back to his car, which was roughly a day distant, when the storm hit the Jokkmokk area of the Scandinavian nation. His dead body was found in the isolated woods the following day. As the storm approached, Beul had also sent a pal a video message.
“It’s going to become worse tonight. Jesus Christ,” he said, demonstrating how his shoes and rucksack were already stuffed full of snow.
“It’s snowing heavily here,” he wrote in another message to his grandmother. “But don’t worry, I’ll survive, you know.”
The loss of the daring young man, whose love of travel inspired millions, has left Storm’s family inconsolable.
“A very sad message: my eldest grandson, our sporty loner Storm, 22 years old, was found dead on October 30th in Swedish Lapland, where he had been doing outdoor trekking since this summer. He was surprised by a snowstorm one day away from his final destination, before the rescue services could leave because of the bad weather,” Storm’s grandmother Hedwig DJ told Leuven Actueel.
She further informed that his body was brought to the country three weeks after the accident.
