Looking for essential skincare trends to stay ahead this summer? In an interview with Zarafshan Shiraz of HT Lifestyle, Dr Charu Sharma, Co-Founder and Director of Dermatology at Cureskin, suggested 7 must-try skincare trends of summer 2024 for a radiant and glowing skin -(Photos by Tima Miroshnichenko on Pexel)1. Look for the PA rating of your sunscreen: While the SPF rating is highly marketed, the PA value of your sunscreen matters equally, if not more. It determines how much your sunscreen protects you from UVA rays. UVA rays penetrate deep into our skin and cause pigmentation and ageing. So, ensure your sunscreen has a PA triple plus rating and SPF above 30.(Pixabay)2. Less is more: Gone are the days of those tedious 10-step skincare routines. People are now shifting to simplified skincare. As a dermatologist, I am telling you that for summers, you don’t need more than a 4-step skincare. Just focus on the basics – cleanser, moisturiser, repair and protect regimen and you’ll be good.(Photo by Yulia Shipova)3. Personalise your skincare: A huge trend and one that I approve of! Your skin is different from other people, so the products that work beautifully for them may not work for you. So, do consider getting a personalised skincare routine from a dermatologist.(Pexels )4. For good skin, pay attention to your hair: If you use your hair oil on dirty hair leave it overnight. Then there are chances of transferring dirt and bacteria on the face, leading to clogged pores and pimples. So in summers, I would recommend using oil on clean hair and leaving it maximum of 3-4 hours. Then wash it off.(Armin Rimoldi on pexels )5. Have A Good Hydrating diet: Include seasonal fruits and vegetables with high water content like watermelons, muskmelon or cucumber. Tomatoes are another good option for bright skin. Apart from hydrating fruits, you should also Include probiotics in your diet.(Pixabay)6. Repair and Protect: Continue using repair products like AHAs and BHAs. Don’t get scared of using them in the summer. Make sure you hydrate your skin with the right moisturizer and protect it with a good sunscreen.(Sora Shimazaki)7. Say yes to Ceramides: Ceramides deserve the hype! They make up 50% of your skin’s outermost layer. This helps in maintaining your skin barrier without making the product feel heavy on the skin in summer.(Monstera)
