Carvajal’s injury has left Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti with just one specialist, Lucas Vazquez, for the right-back position. According to reports, Real Madrid are considering accelerating their search for a new face for the position and the Liverpool fullback could be at the top of their wishlist.
Real Madrid may very well end up acquiring the services of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish giants have been linked with the English defender over a potential summer transfer next year. Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool will come to an end at the end of the season and Real Madrid can hold transfer talks for the 26-year-old in January. But it has now been reported that the potential deal could very well be complicated following Dani Carvajal’s injury. The Spaniard will, reportedly, be out of action for around eight months.
Carvajal’s injury has left Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti with just one specialist – Lucas Vazquez—for the right-back position. In a situation like this, Los Blancos are expected to amp up their search for a new right-back. Spanish outlet Marca reported that Real Madrid are considering accelerating their search for a new face for the position.
The article went on to claim that Alexander-Arnold has been talked about as a possible signing in January. The possibility of the potential deal depends on whether Liverpool are interested in letting the Englishman go so that the Reds can avoid losing him for nothing following the conclusion of the season.
The Marca report even added that Real Madrid will soon decide on the right-back situation with players like Lorenzo Aguado and David Jimenez available for Ancelotti.
Alexander-Arnold had recently talked about his long-term future. “I have always said I want to captain the club, that is an aim of mine and a goal of mine, (but) whether that happens is out of my hands,” he had said last month, as per The Mirror.
Meanwhile, Carvajal tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Real Madrid’s victory against Villarreal. Following the injury, Carvajal shared a post on Instagram.
“Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed, I’m going to have to go through surgery and be off the field for a few months. Already looking forward to starting recovery and coming back like a beast. Thank you all so much for your messages, I feel very loved,” read the translated version of the post shared by Carvajal on Instagram.
Coming back to the on-field developments, Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior found the back of the net for Real Madrid to guide them to a win against Villarreal. Real Madrid are currently placed at the second spot in the La Liga standings with 21 points from nine games.
