In the latest episode of KBC 16, Vikrant Massey revealed that he met Amitabh Bachchan for the first time in his two-decade-long career.
Actor Vikrant Massey and IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, the inspiration behind the film 12th Fail, appeared on the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 16. During their conversation with the show’s host, Amitabh Bachchan, the duo talked about various aspects of their lives and expressed gratitude for meeting the legendary actor for the first time. The IPS officer narrated how KBC helped him with his UPSC preparations, while Massey made a surprising revelation of meeting Big B for the first time in his 20-year-long career.
During their conversation, Manoj Sharma highlighted that no one ever thought a quiz-based show would ever happen. Sharing that he was preparing for UPSC when KBC first aired in 2000, the IPS officer said, “We used to stand at the pan shop or roadside eateries, waiting for 9 PM to prepare for the UPSC through the show. There were times when we felt like our preparation was complete. But as soon as you started asking questions, we realised our preparation was far from enough.”
He reflected upon his childhood days in Chambal, a place well-known for dacoits, and shared what prompted him to take up a powerful position in the bureaucracy. Revealing that the “biggest challenge” in Chambal was to study, Manoj Sharma shared, “Usually, there used to be open exams, and after 12th, everyone would land up with a job. During my exam, there was one teacher who didn’t allow cheating. I got to know then that there are exams, which if you clear, one could land up with a powerful position. So that’s how I wanted to clear these exams.”
In the same episode, Vikrant Massey mentioned that he has been in showbiz for nearly two decades now, but it was still on KBC that he was facing meeting Big B for the first time. “Sitting on this hot seat and meeting you in person is a huge moment for me. I’ve worked in cinema for 12-13 years and spent 8 years in television. In my nearly 20-year career, this is the first time I’ve had the chance to meet you in person,” the actor said, who graced the show to promote his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report.
Meanwhile, Big B praised Massey for his impressive on-screen performances, saying, “It feels like we’ve met many times before. Watching your performances, it feels like you’re one of us, like family.”
Further, the 12th Fail actor praised IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma for his grit, determination, and hard work and revealed that he took up the role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film because it was quite similar to his own.
