Kazan Drone Attack: Following the attack, authorities in Kazan launched emergency response efforts and residents were evacuated from the affected buildings.
Russia experienced a major attack in its city of Kazan as a series of eight drone strikes targeted high-rise buildings. The strikes reportedly occurred in rapid succession, hitting several multi-story buildings.
The Russian government accused Ukraine of being behind the drone assault. Following the attack, authorities in Kazan launched emergency response efforts and residents were evacuated from the affected buildings.
Airport operations impacted
Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said that the Kazan airport has temporarily suspended operations after the attack and restrictions have also been implemented at Izhevsk airport. Kazan is located approximately 800 kilometer east of Moscow. As per Russian news agency Sputnik, Russian air defences were able to down a drone over Kazan while others were able to penetrate.
Russia’s Friday drone attack on Ukraine
The drone attack came after Russia night attacked Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine on Friday. Russia reportedly launched a barrage of 60 drones and five ballistic missiles on Ukrainian cities as drones and missiles hit residential areas in Kyiv. One fatality was reported in the attack while multiple people suffered injuries.
