The actress shared that she felt a lot of pressure to prove herself and to meet everyone’s expectations during the initial days of her career.
Celebrities and social media trolling go hand in hand. We’ve often seen B-town celebs getting brutally trolled on the internet due to any of their comments or their outfits. Earlier, several renowned people such as Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Ananya Panday, and Raveena Tandon, among others, have opened up about how social media trolling has affected their mental health. Recently, during an interview, actress Sara Ali Khan talked about how criticism and trolling have impacted her life.
Talking to Indianexpress.com, the Kedarnath actress shared, “Trolling and harsh criticism can be difficult. It is tough to face negativity, especially when it is personal. However, with time, I’ve learnt not to let it change my sense of self. I’ve come to realise that not everyone will enjoy what I do. Prioritising myself involves staying grounded, focusing on my development, and using feedback as a tool for betterment rather than a source of self-doubt.”
Furthermore, the actress also shared that she felt a lot of pressure to prove herself and to meet everyone’s expectations during the initial days of her career. “It was a challenge. I’ve felt exhausted, anxious, and overwhelmed at times, especially while juggling both my personal and professional duties in such a public setting,” Sara said.
She added, “However, with time, I’ve seen the value of setting limits and prioritising self-care. Practicing mindfulness, remaining grounded, and surrounded by a supporting circle of friends and family has made a significant difference.”
Here are some healthy tips for you to prioritise your mental health:
- Self-care is important: Make yourself a priority, engage in meaningful self-care, practice a balanced lifestyle and make time for things that make you happy.
- Take a break from social media: We’ve often seen celebs taking breaks from social media to prioritise their mental health. Detaching yourself from social media can help boost awareness, mindfulness, and connectivity and increase the quality of sleep.
- Practice Meditation: Several research studies have shown the positive impact of meditation on both our mental and physical health. Even five minutes of meditation each day can help you feel calmer, reduce anxiety, develop self-awareness, and prevent memory loss.
- Go outside: Staying inside your home could have a negative impact on your mental health. Take some breaks, go out for a walk or to meet your friends, engage in physical activities, or explore nature. Doing this could significantly reduce stress and increase a sense of joy.
- Ask for help: Never shy away from seeking medical help or talking to your friends about your mental health. Your friends are your unpaid therapists and could help you overcome your stress levels.
