Kunwat Amar, who played Titu in Anupamaa, recently talked about his bond with producer Rajan Shahi and the show’s lead actress Rupali Ganguly.
Star Plus’ popular family drama Anupamaa has been making headlines for quite some time now. More recently, it captured attention as the serial took a leap of 15 years, which led many actors to quit the show, except Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna. Recently, Kunwar Amar, who is among those who left the hit show after the leap, spoke at length about the daily soap, sharing insights about the cast’s bond and more.
Amar was roped in to play Nishi Saxena’s character’s love interest, Titu in Anupamaa. While speaking to Times Now/Telly Talk India, the actor expressed his excitement about working with a big brand like Anupamaa and shared that he had always wanted to work with good artists. When asked if it was a mutual decision to exit the hit show, Amar nodded with a yes.
He said, “The show was taking a long leap, and the kids were all grown up now. I call myself a hungry artist. I can’t just go to the sets every day to earn money only per day. Mujhse nahin hota kyunki mere andar ke artist ke liye vo bhot galat hoga. I want my script to excite me.” The actor further shared that when the makers decided to introduce a leap, he realised that his character wouldn’t have much to do.
Hence, he sat down with the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi and shared his concerns with him. “I wanted to know if they had anything planned for me. Ansh and Ishani would be grown up now, which would make them in the senior category. I didn’t want to do that. I knew it was the right time to exit. Rajan sir also welcomed my decision, and he wasn’t upset. It became a mutual call,” revealed Amar.
In the same interaction, he was asked if the producer was strict, citing the incident where Shahi fired Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai due to their unprofessionalism. Amar said, “No, yaar. With me, he has always been friendly. He sits with us and chats.” He added, “I never felt any restriction or pressure. I was always free to express myself.”
The 34-year-old actor also spoke about his experience working with Anupamaa’s lead actress, Rupali Ganguly. Amar shared that he had a “great experience with her” since the day he started shooting for the serial. He recalled that they shot a scene where her character felt that he was her son, and they even danced together the very first day. The actor reminisced, “After all that, she hugged me tightly and said, ‘Welcome to the show.’” Amar added that he even flirted with her and emphasised that he shared a beautiful bond with the actress.
