Apple launched the USB C variant of the AirPods Max recently but where is the upgraded premium version?
Apple is unlikely to launch another AirPods Max headphone anytime soon. The company did announce the existing AirPods Max in new colours and support for USB C charging recently. But the AirPods Max 2 model is not in its plans, as per new reports coming in from Bloomberg.
The premium AirPods headphone needed a hardware upgrade but Apple decided to limit its change to the USB C port, something that has been forced on the company. But the audio chip from the Max version was once again seen on the new USB C AirPods Max as well. In fact, the product didn’t get a lot of fanfare during its launch and was merely a footnote with other products on its side.
AirPods Max 2 Launch Cancelled?
The report claims the sales of the AirPods Max has a lot to do with Apple’s hesitant production strategy. The company might have second thoughts about the need to bring a Max 2 to the market, which will invariably cost higher than the current model, and that makes it an even harder sell with the buyers.
The new AirPods 4 series have shown us that Apple has the upgraded audio chip to enhance the performance, so packing those in the AirPods Max 2 can’t be that difficult. However, Apple won’t make a product, just because it can, and the sales of the Max have clearly worked against its immediate future. If you have been waiting for the AirPods Max 2 to roll out and saving up big for the new gear, we’d suggest you consider the other premium headphones that can be lapped for much less than what the AirPods Max cost in the market.
For the next few months, all the talk will be around the new iPhone SE 4 model that will not only have AI features from day one, but could also get the Apple 5G modem.
