Ukrainian President Zelensky made a surprise stop in the Philippines to meet President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr at Malacanang Palace on June 2. Zelensky travelled to the Philippines directly from the Shangri-La Dialogue, where he urged Asian countries to join the June 15 Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland. Zelensky had earlier accused Beijing of “working hard today to prevent countries from coming to the peace summit”, a claim China has denied. Meanwhile, Chinese state media warned Asian countries against getting involved in the ukraine crisis.
