Since BLACKPINK’s Rose talked about her toxic ex, her fans have been keen on finding the identity of the person.
BLACKPINK’s Rose has taken the internet by storm ever since she released her first solo album, Rosie, on December 6. In the past few weeks leading up to the release, the K-pop star sat for numerous interviews, talking about her now-released album. In many such conversations, Rose discussed her album’s themes, which revolve around toxic relationships, love gone wrong and missed red flags. She also opened up about her past toxic relationship in some of the interviews.
Rose’s candid revelations about her past relationship have sparked speculation among her fans. Time and again, she mentioned that her relationship with her ex-boyfriend had heavily influenced her new music, and her fans had now taken it upon themselves to discover the identity of the man who had broken their favourite artist’s heart.
A section of her fans thought that the BLACKPINK member was, maybe, in a relationship with American rapper and actor Jaden Smith. These speculations were based on the “evidence” that the netizens compiled. However, not everyone was convinced of it. Another section of her fans recalled her skateboard phase and connected it with the music video of her recently released song Toxic Till The End, where her love interest is a skater. Her fans connected the dots and concluded that the person in question is Jason Choi, a skateboard teacher.
The speculations got more intense when Choi shared a picture of a red rose on his Instagram Stories. Soon after the post, Rose’s fans started commenting on the posts available on his Instagram feed.
One fan wrote, “Rose really settled for golum when she could’ve done better.” Another said, “Even Lisa didn’t have this horrible choice.” Meanwhile, a third fan asked, “Is that Rose’s ex?!”
The comments led Jason Choi to speak up about the matter and address the speculations once and for all. He posted a story on his Instagram account, saying, “I’m not Blackpink Rose’s ex. I’m a big fan though. I don’t know how I became her ex; I’m still confused. And please, don’t be rude. Thank you!”
After the clarification, Rose’s fans started apologising to the skater in his Instagram posts.
Speaking of Rose’s first-ever solo album, Rosie, it consists of 12 tracks, including the chartbuster song APT, featuring Bruno Mars. Since its release, the peppy and punchy track has become a global hit.
