BLACKPINK Rose’s lead single APT, from her album Rosie, continues to achieve milestones.
With the release of APT. in collaboration with Bruno Mars, BLACKPINK’s Rose has gained unprecedented fame around the world. The lead single of the K-pop idol’s first-ever solo album, Rosie, was released back in October, and it immediately became a favourite among the listeners. A mix of pop-rock and pop-punk with hints of indie rock and electropop, the infectious beats have captivated everyone so much that the song made Rose achieve another milestone in her solo career.
Recently, APT. climbed to No. 10 position on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, up from No. 18 this month. This achievement marks a historic moment as the New Zealand-born singer becomes the first female K-pop solo artist ever to reach the Top 10 on this chart. This also puts her ahead of the renowned South Korean singer Psy, who previously held the record for the highest-charting K-pop solo act on US radio for his 2012 hit Gangnam Style.
As Rose basks in the success of her latest release feat. Bruno Mars, critics have pointed out that the 27-year-old K-pop artist has been achieving milestones one after the other due to her collaboration with the Grammy-winning singer. Bruno Mars, who is best known for smash hits like Uptown Funk, Leave the Door Open and Die With A Smile, among others, has a strong presence on the US radio, and many on the Internet believe that his involvement in the song made it such a hit.
People took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their thoughts on this. One user said, “Due to the collaboration between Rose and Bruno Mars, Rose became the most streamed artist from the beginning of January 2025.” Another wrote, “Thanks to her collaboration with Bruno Mars on the track APT.” Someone else pointed out that Rose’s other singles from her new album did not reach such heights of fame. The user said, “I was wondering why toxic till the end, and number one girl didn’t reach this.”
Meanwhile, a huge section of her fans came out in support, celebrating her success like theirs. They complimented Rose’s singing and songwriting skills and congratulated her on the achievement.
With APT’s recent achievement. BLACKPINK Rose joins the most popular K-pop group BTS, whose song Dynamite also made history on the Radio Songs chart. While critics often argue how a collaboration between K-pop artists with Western artists helps them break into the US market, Rose’s popularity is also a testament to her own abilities as a performer.
On January 6, Rose and Bruno Mars’ APT climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
