Enzo Fernandez was accused of driving a Porsche Cayenne through a red light on Church Street Llanelli on November 28 last year. Enzo was also accused of driving a vehicle on the road without third-party insurance.
This is not the first time Enzo has found himself in trouble since signing for Chelsea. He was recently embroiled in a controversy after allegedly singing a derogatory chant about the French national team with his La Albiceleste teammates.
A livestream of the song sparked an outrage. In the video, Enzo could allegedly be seen filming himself and his teammates singing a racially abusive song after winning the Copa America 2024 title.
Enzo Fernandez later issued an apology saying, “I want to apologise sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations,” he wrote, as per multiple outlets. Acknowledging the offensive language in the video, Enzo added, “The song includes highly offensive language and there is absolutely no excuse for these words. I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologise for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations.”
Chelsea are currently investigating Enzo Fernandez who is on the verge of being sanctioned with a ban. Following the incident, Chelsea issued a public statement condemning their player’s actions.
As per several media reports, they wrote, “Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable.” They added, “We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology and will use this as an opportunity to educate.”
Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea last year from Benfica. The deal turned out to be a British transfer record. The London giants paid a reported British-record amount of £106.8m for the Argentine.
