Russia’s defence ministry said its forces seized control of six villages between August 31 and September 6 in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. Russia said it also launched 17 strikes on Ukrainian military targets using long-range precision weapons like the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones. The US Secretary of Defense cautioned that the use of US-supplied weapons for long-range strikes into Russia would not turn the tide of the war for Ukraine. Zelensky urged NATO to pressure Russia to end the war “this fall” and asked allies to help arrange joint production of weapons on Ukrainian soil. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik that Russia has enough forces and resources to push Ukraine out of Kursk and protect Belgorod.
