Mbappé previously rejected a mediation offer by the commission in his dispute with PSG, saying the club owed him close to 55 million euro in unpaid wages by PSG
In a whirlwind turn of events, the French Football Federation (FFP) has rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s request to reconsider the French league’s order to pay former striker Kylian Mbappe 55 million euros ($57.3 million) in back pay.
According to reports, PSG’s request to the FFP was submitted a day late, after the pre-allocated 10-day period to appeal the initial ruling announced on October 25.
Mbappé previously rejected a mediation offer by the commission in his dispute with PSG, saying the club owed him close to 55 million euro in unpaid wages by PSG, the amount comprising the last three months of the player’s contract salaries (April, May, and June) as well as an “ethical bonus” for these three months, including the final third of a signing bonus (€36 million gross) that the player was expected to get in February of this year.
But, PSG argued that the 25-year-old had agreed to waive the sum in August 2023.
The LFP has the power to press a transfer ban via the legal team, and since the matter has been taken to UEFA as well, this could result in the club’s license being revoked, thus ending their participation in the ongoing Champions League campaign as well, at least until the matter has resolved for both parties.
Reported Rift Within Real Madrid Ranks After Mbappe’s Arrival
Mbappe joined Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer after scoring a club-record 256 goals in seven years for PSG, after the relationship between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Mbappe soured.
Having completed his much-anticipated and high-profile move to Real Madrid this summer, Kylian Mbappe was expected to help overpower Los Blancos to make them seemingly undefeatable. But, their season has been anything but the same, as both the Frenchman and the club continue to struggle to find consistency.
It had all been too much for Mbappe to deal with reportedly, as reports had also suggested earlier this month that the Frenchman was feeling jaded at the club, after being forced to play out of his natural position on the wing.
With both Mbappe and Vinicius Junior preferring to play down the left flank, a tricky situation has arisen for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is tasked with navigating through this rough patch.
After back-to-back defeats against Barcelona in La Liga and AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League, Real finally found light with a resounding 4-0 victory against Osasuna in their last fixture.
Next, they will take on Leganes in La Liga this coming Sunday.
