Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed on September 16 that they shot down another American-made MQ-9 Reaper drone in Dhamar province. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said that the drone was carrying out a hostile mission when it was shot down by a surface-to-air missile made in Yemen. Saree pointed out that it was the third drone in a week and the tenth American drone of this type that the Houthis managed to shoot down since Oct 7. The heavy aircraft, which is used for dual combat and spying purposes, is worth around $35 million. Houthis have been carrying out attacks against Israel and its allies in support of Palestine since the Gaza war broke out.
