Apple has big plans for its 2025 iPhone lineup which is rumoured to include a Slim/Thin iPhone 17 model.
Apple is planning for some big changes in 2025 with the rumoured iPhone 17 Slim or Air likely to bag some headlines. But it seems the company might have a tough time matching its ambitions with the thinness of the upcoming model. The details about the issue are coming through a source in South Korea.
Slim Troubles Brewing?
The brand is said to be struggling with the size of the battery that will go into the Slim version, and it is unlikely that Apple will compromise on the battery life to make it thin. In fact, the report claims Apple’s effort could invariably fall short, and we could get an iPhone as slim as the iPhone 6 version (that came at 6.9mm), which is not exactly a breakthrough for the company.
The whole purpose of bringing the Slim/Air moniker is to highlight its thinness and if Apple is now unable to meet its own high standards and demands for a device like this, what are the chances of the product not coming through to the market at all?
The iPhone 17 Air is reportedly going to be powered by the upcoming A19 chipset, and feature a single rear camera that does sound rather bold from Apple. It is likely to have a ProMotion 120Hz display that should slightly tilt the scale in its favour.
Having said that, rumours around the iPhone 17 Slim have been just that, pure rumours, and unless Apple gives us more concrete hints for its plans in the Air direction with the iPhones, we would prefer to take these updates with a pinch of salt.
For the time being, all our eyes are on the iPhone SE 4 model which not only promises a big overhaul in terms of the design but also its ability to support Apple Intelligence AI features on a modest budget (by Apple’s standards).
