Allan de Souza Miranda scored two goals as Hyderabad FC defeated Mohammedan SC 4-0 in the 2024-25 Indian Super League.
Kerala Blasters came back from a goal down to beat Mohammedan SC 2-1 in the Indian Super League 2024-25 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday.
Allan de Souza Miranda netted a brace as Stefan Sapic and Parag Shrivas scored a goal each.
Ahead of the start of the game, the home side were the more fancied side to get up and running but it was Hyderabad FC who took the lead with the clock reading just 3:37 seconds.
Allan de Souza Miranda latched on to a misskick from Padam Chettri, after receiving a back pass from Florent Ogier. Hyderabad FC’s Brazilian forward reacted quickest and slotted the ball with his right foot from close range to the bottom right corner for the lead.
Come the 12th-minute mark, Hyderabad’s lead was doubled as Stefan Sapic stood tall and thundered his header into the back of the net. Cy Goddard sent in the corner as the 6-foot-plus Serbian defender easily towered over his diminutive counterparts.
Barely three minutes later, Hyderabad scored again as Allan smashed a right-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner as the Mohammedan keeper jumped to his left in vain. 3-0 inside the first 15 minutes.
Mohammedan did not sit back and defend.
Vanlalzuidika Chhakchhuak shot his shot well over in the 23rd as Bikash Singh forced the visiting keeper Biaka Jongte into making a good save down to his left. Mirjalol Kasimov too had a shot saved in the 31st.
Carlos Franca seemingly pulled one back in the 36th minute but the offside flag dashed the hopes of the Mohammedan faithful.
As the first half drew a close, a stray kick from Kasimov on Goddard produced a little melee in the middle of the park after Alex Saji charged in with vengeance. The referee flashed the yellow card to Kasimov and Saji.
At the restart, Andrey Chernyshov rang in the changes as Cesar Manzoki, Makan Chothe and Mohammed Irshad replaced Florent Ogier, Remsanga and Angousana.
Parag Shrivas, playing on the left of defence, scored a screamer in the 51st as a hush fell over the stands. The Mohammedan players too, were stunned into silence.
Manzoki hit the upright in the 53rd as the supporters started to accept that maybe it was not their night.
Thangboi Singto also decided to introduce fresher legs as Sourav K was brought on in place of Abdul Rabee, while Ayush Adhikari and Devendra Murgaokar replaced Isaac Vanmalsawma and Allan respectively.
Chernyshov completed his quota of substitutions as Amarjit Singh and Sajad Parray came on for Bikash Singh and Zodingliana Ralte.
With the 80-minute mark nearing, Mohammedan threw the gauntlet at the visitors. Alexis, Makan Chothe and Franca all took their chance but neither could breach the Hyderabad wall.
Lalchhanhima Sailo came on for Cy Goddard and was immediately involved in a goal as he ran down the right before Abijith took over. The substitutes combined as he played in Devendra Murgaokar but the forward could not find the back of the net.
In added time after 90, Devendra was felled by Irshad and was promptly booked by the referee. Andrei Alba stepped up to take the free-kick from the edge of the penalty box and almost sent the keeper to the wrong side.
The scoreline stayed at 4-0 as Mohammedan and Hyderabad traded places at the bottom of the table.
