Jaushua Sotirio ended his association with Kerala Blasters FC having not played a single match due to injuries.
Kerala Blasters FC and Jaushua Sotirio mutually agreed to part ways on Monday, bringing his association with the club to an end.
The footballer took to social media to confirm his exit from KBFC without playing a match.
“Not the circumstances I would’ve ever thought heading to Kerala Blasters. After a very challenging 18 months, we’ve decided to part ways.
“Both physically & mentally I have given my all to this club, unfortunately it wasn’t enough and I wish things turned out differently. Everything in life happens for a reason and we don’t always understand why. This past year has taught me valuable lessons. I’ve endured pain, suffering, been tested in ways I never thought possible, but I have gained so much strength and resilience and I will continue to do so with whatever comes my way. One of the toughest chapters in my life, but without failures, adversity and rock bottoms, you will never be successful. I thank God every day for showing me strength, guidance and to never give up.
“Wishing the players, the club and especially the loyal fans all the best in their future and hoping for Blasters success, as that is what they deserve
“Excited to see what the future holds,” he added.
Kerala Blasters had signed Jaushua Sotirio from A-League Club Newcastle Jets for an undisclosed transfer fee ahead of the 2023-24 season with the Aussie star penning a two-year deal until 2025.
Just before the start of the season, Sotirio sustained an ankle injury during a training session that ruled him out for the season.
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, Sotirio joined KBFC’s training and was even named in their squad for their pre-season tour in Thailand.
He was subsequently not included in the plans for the Indian Super League season 11.
The Sydney-born attacker had joined KBFC after plying his trade in the Australian First Division for many years representing clubs like Western Sydney Wanderers FC, Wellington Phoenix FC, and Newcastle Jets throughout his career. Sotirio, a former AFC Champions League winner in 2013/14, has also made a combined 13 appearances for the Young Socceroos and Olyroos, including a winner against Indonesia in the AFC U-19 Championship.
