Israel, Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have been added to the UN’s “list of shame” in a move that has enraged Tel Aviv. The annual report released by the UN Chief’s office alleging rights violations against children in armed conflict has sparked outrage in Israel. This is the first time that Israel and Hamas have been included on this list, joining the ranks of the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram. Israel is the first democratic country included on the list which had Russia added to it last year over its alleged treatment of children during the Ukraine war. Israel’s inclusion on the blacklist also enraged Israeli PM Netanyahu who claimed “the IDF is the most moral army in the world.”
