Italy’s defense minister condemned the “intolerable” Israeli shooting at the UN peacekeeping headquarters and troops in Lebanon. Italy’s defence minister said he “protested” to his Israeli counterpart Gallant and summoned the Israeli ambassador. Italy has more than 1,000 troops in the 10,000 strong UNIFIL force in south Lebanon. Crosetto said there had been other incidents, all of which were “in clear contrast to international law.” Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz denied claims of a de facto halt on arms exports to Israel, stating more defense goods would be sent soon.
