In Hinduism, the month of Kartik is considered very auspicious. During this month, days like Kartik Purnima and Dev Deepawali are celebrated and are regarded as significant periods. On the occasion of Dev Uthani Ekadashi of the Kartik month, Lord Vishnu wakes up from his fourth-month sleep and takes back the reins of creation, as per the beliefs. Another important day of the month is the Kartik Purnima, when the devotees take a bath in the Ganges and the Yamuna rivers. They believe that it will give them merits equal to 100 Ashwamedha Yagya. This day is also known as Tripurari Purnima, because according to more beliefs, Lord Shiva killed a demon named Tripurasura. While Lord Vishnu incarnated as Matsya on this day, according to Vishnu Purana. So, the devotees engage in the worship of Lord Vishnu as well as Lord Shiva on this day.
According to Pandit Kalki Ram, famous astrologer from Ayodhya, this year the Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on November 15. The period will commence from 6:31 am on November 15 and will last till 3:02 am by November 16. The prosperous time to worship or donate is from 8:46 am to 10:26 am, while the bathing muhurat is from 6:28 am to 7:19 am, stated the astrologer.
He added that on this year, on the day of Kartik Purnima, Gajakesari Rajyoga is being formed. It will be followed by the formation of Shash Raja Yoga. So, the astrologer says that on this day Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are to be worshipped and bhog is to be offered. As per the beliefs, the Gods and Goddesses arrive on earth on this day and for their welcome, the devotees light diyas and lamps around their houses.
