Bollywood’s budding young actress Khushi Kapoor has been a part of the industry since the day she was born, owing to her parents – the legendary Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor. Despite having close ties with the film fraternity, Khushi made her much-awaited acting debut in 2023 with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies and is now gearing up for her second film, Loveyapa with Junaid Khan. The film which also marks Khushi’s first theatrical release will be released on February 7, bringing a romcom to the big screen.
Now that the actress has started exploring the field of acting with different roles, expectations remain high over whether she would match the legacy of her late mother. As a part of promoting her upcoming film, Khushi recently appeared on Indian Idol 15 for a special episode themed Celebrating Evergreen Songs. She engaged in interesting discussions with the contestants, also speaking up about her mother’s films.
As one of the contestants asked if Khushi would ever consider making a remake of her mother’s iconic films, Khushi had a heartwarming response, stating that she wants to preserve it rather than attempt to recreate it.
In a previous conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Khushi spoke at length about carrying her mother’s legacy. Recalling that she did not receive any specific advice from her mother, Khushi acknowledged the presence of pressure as Sridevi’s daughter. “I think when you have such a legacy to carry, you also feel the pressure. I think people have certain expectations and it is natural for them to try and draw comparisons. But I am new and I haven’t had extensive experience like a lot of people in my family. So I can just do my whole best and hope to find my footing,” she said in the interview.
In another interaction, Khushi opened up about feeling more nervous about Loveyapa than her debut film. Stating that the Zoya Akhtar directorial had an OTT release, Khushi admitted that she is more stressed about the box office pressure with her next release.
Coming back to the Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan starrer, Loveyapa is directed by Advait Chandan and also features actors like Ashutosh Raina and Kiku Sharda.
