Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal was spotted wearing shoes bearing Lionel Messi’s name against Las Palmas.
The 17-year-old winger has been one of the Blaugrana side’s most crucial performers this season. He was out of action for nearly three weeks due to an ankle injury. Yamal returned to club action on November 30 when Barcelona lost 1-2 at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Stadium.
Despite failing to show up individually during the match, Yamal made the headlines for a unique reason. The youngster wore shoes with the word ‘Messi’ imprinted on the soles.
One Football has now shared a glimpse of Yamal’s boots on X (formerly Twitter). “Yamal has the name of his idol Messi written underneath his boots,” read the post.
Several fans have now shared their reactions in the post’s comments section. One of them wrote, “Carrying greatness with every step.”

Yamal began the Saturday fixture against Las Palmas on the bench after returning from injury. He was brought in at half-time but the 17-year-old failed to make an impact on home turf. The fixture saw Las Palmas take the lead, courtesy of a 49th-minute finish from Sandro Ramirez. Raphina equalised in the 61st minute to keep Barcelona in the game. Eventually, Fabio Silva locked in the three points for Las Palmas by scoring his side’s second goal. It came six minutes after Raphina’s equaliser.
The defeat means Barcelona have just collected one point from their last three Laliga matches. Yamal will now look to inspire Barcelona to a victory against Mallorca next. The youngster boasts five goals and seven assists in the ongoing campaign. He will hope to better his numbers at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on December 3.
As for Messi, the Argentine failed to inspire Inter Miami to MLS Cup glory this year. He was a crucial part of the team’s Supporters Shield triumph but couldn’t make it past Atlanta United in the MLS playoffs.
