Prithvi Namaskara, or Earth Salute sequences, are part of Dru Yoga, which combines physical movement with breathing. It involves a sequence of several poses that warm up the body for a more intense workout. Here are some of the benefits of doing the asana.
Strengthens Muscles: This yoga asana strengthens the lower back, wrists and shoulders muscles, as well as building core muscle strength.
Increases Flexibility: Prithvi Namaskara is a combination of various asanas, and to perform it, one uses various parts of one’s body. Hence, it increases flexibility in the body.
Improves Mental Health: This yoga asana helps to balance the earth element in the body, which can lead to equilibrium and inner peace. Thus reducing stress and increasing mindfulness.
Reduces Anxiety and Stress: To perform the asana, one must also control one’s breathing. Thus, Prithvi Namaskar creates a bridge between the body and breathing, leading to the reduction of anxiety and stress.
Energy Boost: The Prithvi Namaskara asana also helps in giving an energy boost to the body.
While Prithvi Namaskara might be the diva’s go-to yoga pose to start her week right, she has repeatedly shared videos while performing other asanas.
