Manchester United have roped in Leny Yoro from Lille and offloaded Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille.
Manchester United are due to announce two major transfer news in the coming few days. After Erik Ten Hag was handed a contract extension, the Red Devils were expected to revamp their squad in this summer transfer window. They have already bolstered the forward line by roping in Joshua Zirkzee. The Bologna striker reportedly agreed on a deal worth €42.5m, which will be paid in instalments in three years. According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are now close to completing the signing of Leny Yoro from Lille FC. The 18-year-old defender is understood to have wrapped up the first part of his medical at Old Trafford.
Yoro is set to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League club, which has sealed the deal for €50m plus several add-ons. Confirming the development, Romano shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Leny Yoro to Manchester United, here we go! Deal in place after the first part of medical is completed. More tests to follow then he’s ready to sign a five-year deal valid until June 2029. Lille and Man United have all documents set for a deal worth €50m plus several add-ons.”
Real Madrid were also in the race to sign Leny Yoro. The French youngster was reportedly more interested in joining the Spanish giants. Manchester United, however, snatched the deal, agreeing to pay way more than what Real Madrid decided to spend on Yoro.
Manchester United aim to include one more centre-back in the squad. They have held talks with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs De Ligt. The Old Trafford hierarchy is reportedly prioritising Branthwaite, for whom the club need to pay £70 million. They have already agreed personal terms with the Englishman.
Fabrizio Romano has further confirmed Mason Greenwood’s move to Olympique Marseille. The 22-year-old forward has not played for Manchester United since being arrested in December 2022. Though the case was closed later, the club decided not to bring Greenwood back to the squad. After spending the last season at Getafe on loan, the promising forward is now set to start afresh at Marseille.
Sharing updates about his next destination, Fabrizio Romano posted on X, “Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal in place between all parties. OM have booked a private flight for Mason to land in Marseille, undergo medical tests and sign. Deal valid until June 2029. Man United to receive €30m package plus 50% sell-on clause.”
According to Team Talk, Manchester United are likely to complete a few more transfers shortly. They hope to sign Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint Germain for £45 million. United have also held talks with West Ham United regarding the exit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
