A historic third medal hangs in the balance for Manu, who will be competing in Women’s 25m Air Pistol Final tomorrow on Saturday.
A third medal could be on the cards for Manu Bhaker who has confirmed her qualification in the Women’s 25m Air Pistol final after finishing second in the qualifying event today with a total score of 590-24x.
The 22-year-old shooter, who already has two bronze medals in her kitty in 10m women’s air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team along with Sarabjot Singh, shot an amazing 294 in the ‘precision’ round and was even more menacing in the rapid round to score 296 and aggregating 590.
She is just two points behind leader Veronika Major of Hungary, who shot an aggregate of 592 (294 and 298) which helped her equal the Olympic record.
India has won all three medals so far in shooting, with Manu bagging two and Swapnil Kusale taking the bronze in 50m rifle three-positions on Thursday.
Manu opened her medal account in the Paris Olympics with a swashbuckling Bronze win in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol, befoire progressing to win another bronze medal in the Mixed Team event of the same, creating history by becoming the first Indian female athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
And now a historic third medal hangs in the balance for Manu, who will be competing in Women’s 25m Air Pistol Final tomorrow on Saturday.
