Boxing legend Mike Tyson is once again ready to get into the squared cycle. The former heavyweight champion is set to face Jake Paul– a multi-talented youngster who enjoyed much success as a YouTuber before shifting his focus to pro boxing. The highly anticipated clash featuring Tyson and Paul will be hosted at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 15. Nearly 80,000 fans are expected to attend the fight.
Though there is no belt or title on offer, the winner will take home a cash prize of 40 million dollars. The Texas boxing officials have approved the match, meaning its result will go into the professional records of both Tyson and Paul.
Mike Tyson has not featured in any sanctioned bout since 2005. He was last in action against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match four years back. During his illustrious boxing career, “Iron Mike” fought 55 times and won on 50 occasions. Among those victories, 44 were secured via knockouts.
Tyson was the first boxer in history to keep all three major belts (WBA, WBC, and IBF) in his possession at the same time. He was also the youngest to become the World Heavyweight Champion at the age of 20. In his last title match in 2002, the 58-year-old was thrashed by British champion Lennox Lewis.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul kicked off his boxing career in 2018, featuring in a celebrity exhibition match. The content creator who has more than 20 million subscribers on YouTube turned professional two years later. He previously fought against Tyson Fury’s half-brother Tommy Fury and ended up losing the match by decision. Paul has so far won seven fights via knockouts.
