Munawar Faruqui is stepping into the world of luxury real estate. The comedian has recently invested in a luxurious apartment worth Rs 6.09 crore in Mumbai. His new home is in one of the premium locations of Mumbai, the New Cuffe Parade in Wadala. The documents examined at Square Yards reveal that the high-rise apartment is quite spacious as it occupies 1,767.97 sq ft of built-up area and comes with three exclusive parking spaces.
Faruqui’s recent purchase is a part of Lodha Aura, a premium residential real estate project undertaken by Macrotech Developers Limited popularly referred to as Lodha. It has a forty-story building fully equipped with all facilities and provides its residents with 3 BHK and 4 BHK flats.
The purchase, on September 16, came as a primary market purchase, directly with the developer and not in the secondary market, according to Square Yards.
News Bytes cited local brokers indicating the rate per sq ft ranges from Rs 35,000 to Rs 60,000 in Wadala as the prices of the property in the area have risen sharply.
Faruqui has gained widespread attention for his comedy shows because of the social, cultural and political subject matters that he addresses. His career started in 2020 when he created videos on YouTube with the most popular ones being Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat and Ghost Story.
In January 2021, he was arrested in Indore on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by a member of a right-wing group, who accused Faruqui of disrespecting religious figures through his jokes. Faruqui was taken into custody for several weeks before being granted bail.
Apart from expanding his comedy career, Faruqui attempted to explore the music industry. He then released the song Jawab which he recorded in collaboration with Spectra.
In 2022, he emerged as the winner of the Lock Upp reality show, which was hosted by Kangana Ranaut.
Then, he entered Bigg Boss 17, a famous reality show hosted by Salman Khan, and won it.
