In her first match of the Paris Olympics 2024, star Indian paddler Sreeja Akula secured an easy win with a scoreline of 11-4, 11-9, 11-7, and 11-8.
India’s No. 1 table tennis player, Sreeja Akula, managed to get the better of Swedish paddler Christina Källberg in her women’s singles Round of 64 match of the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday (July 28). The 25-year-old Hyderabad-born Sreeja, who is playing in her maiden Olympic games in Paris this year, won the match with a scoreline of 11-4, 11-9, 11-7, and 11-5.
The world No. 25 TT player, Akula, looked in pristine form at the beginning, sweeping the Swedish Kallberg 11-4 in no time.

Kallberg attempted to come back with venom in the second game, pushing the young Indian to almost a tiebreaker, but Akula ensured that she clinched the win in the end, 11-9.
The fight from Kallberg only pushed Akula to go on the attack even more, as she battled it out 11-7 with the Swede in the next game, to remain a game’s reach away from victory.
