Premier League holders Manchester City fell to a shocking defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday as Arne Slot’s Liverpool capitalised on the champions’ slip-up to clinch the top spot in the English domestic standings with a come-from-behind against Brighton.
Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring at the Vitality Stadium in the 9th minute of the game before Evanilson added a second-half strike for the Cherries at home as insurance.
Josko Gvardiol netted City’s consolation eight minutes from time as Pep Guardiola’s side went down.

Liverpool managed to the game around at Anfield to post a 2-1 win over Brighton as strikes from Cody Gakpo and Mohammad Salah in the second period rendered Ferdi Kadioglu’s first-half opener in vain.
Liverpool sit atop the standings with 25 points to their name in 10 outings, two ahead of Manchester City.
