A lawyer was killed after protests outside a court in Chittagong demanding the release of a Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu.
ISKCON Bangladesh has expressed concerns over the “biased” and “one-sided” reporting by the country’s media outlets over the death of a lawyer during protests outside the country on Tuesday.
According to ISKCON, a group of people caused chaos during the protests, leading to the death of the lawyer. “However, some sections of the Bangladeshi media are presenting a different narrative of the events,” the ISKCON said in a statement.
Saiful Islam Alif, a lawyer, was allegedly hacked to death after the protests by thousands who gathered outside a court in Chittagong demanding the release of an arrested Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, who was later denied bail and sent to jail on charges of sedition.
Massive protests have erupted in Bangladesh over the arrest of the Hindu monk at Dhaka airport on November 25.
Prabhu was denied bail yesterday, leading to further protests by the Hindu community who cited atrocities against them under the Yunus administration.
Chief Advisor to the interim Bangladesh government, Muhammad Yunus, condemned the killing of the lawyer in Chittagong and ordered an investigation into the incident.
