A man waiting at the airport for a family member on the ill-fated flight shared the last message he received from the passenger at 9 am moments before the crash.
“A bird struck the wing and we can’t land,” the flyer wrote via KakaoTalk, The Korea Times reported.
As the man asked how long this had been taking place, the family member replied a minute later, “Just now. Should I make a will?”
The crash killed 179 on board and left only two survivors.
A video of the deadly accident came to the fore, showing the plane skidding off the runway and crashing into the fence of the airport.
The flight failed to operate its wheels during landing, causing it to veer off the runway. It is suspected that a birdstrike could have caused the failure of the landing gears. A video also surfaced showing birdstrike moments before the landing of the plane, causing fire on its wing.
