Sony PS5 Pro console is not coming to India officially which has been confirmed by the company this week with a reason.
Sony’s new PlayStation 5 Pro version is not getting a launch date in India, and this has been confirmed by the company itself this week. Most gamers were eagerly waiting for the brand to announce its PS5 Pro launch plans in India, and how much it would pinch their pockets. But the latest development is surely going to be a big shock for buyers, who now would have to resort to picking it from the grey market which is never the best idea.
So, what is the reason behind Sony’s decision to not launch the PS5 Pro console in India? It seems the new model has some hardware features that are not available/allowed in the country by the government.
The statement from Sony quoted in multiple reports says, “PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries (which presently includes India) where 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed.”
It is interesting to see Sony talk about a basic Wi-Fi feature to be the reason for its lack of official availability in India. However, we have previously seen brands decide against launching a product for similar reasons. Many years back, Google said the Pixel 4 will not launch in India because it has a Soli sensor that was not getting the approvals from the regulatory bodies in the country.
Sony PS5 Pro From The Grey Market: Worth the Risk?
The grey market will be buzzing with demand for the PS5 Pro after hearing these updates. People will invariably head over to these stores and pick up the new console, albeit at a significantly costlier price.
So, is it a good idea to buy something from these channels? Well, people will end up buying either way, but you must note that Sony is unlikely to offer any warranty for your product, which means you have to rely on third-party repair shops to get things done. In short, buying from these markets is risky and should be avoided.
Sony PS5 Pro Price
The newly launched PS5 Pro comes with a price tag of $699.99 (Rs 59,057 approx). Also, customers can purchase an attachable disc drive for $79.9 (Rs 6,741 approx.) and a vertical stand for $29.99 (Rs 2,530 approx) separately.
The PS5 Pro is available in the standard dual-tone black and white colour variant or a limited edition grey colour option as part of PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle.
Sony PS5 Pro Features
The PS5 Pro includes a few hardware advancements over the PS5, with the device boasting faster framerates and higher resolution. It is equipped with the same AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU as the original PS5, but with better RDNA graphics and 16.7 teraflops of GPU computation capabilities, as compared to the PS5’s GPU with 10.28 teraflops.
As for the memory, the PS5 Pro comes with 16GB of GDDR6 and an additional 2GB of DDR5 RAM for system tasks. Additionally, it packs a 2TB custom SSD, doubling the storage space of the standard PS5.
Talking about its functionality, the PS5 Pro, according to Gadgets 360, has enhanced ray tracing capabilities that allow for more accurate and realistic lighting and reflections in games. Also, the system includes Sony’s new AI upscaling capability, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which improves image quality through machine learning technology.
The company earlier announced that over 50 games will get PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, with more to follow.
