Crafted from khadi silk, the classic Angrakha silhouette was reimagined by Indian couturiers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
Marking her global debut in style, actor Tabu graced the premiere of the TV series Dune: Prophecy in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla couture.
The grand premiere held in New York, saw the evergreen star sashay the red carpet in an ensemble that celebrated the couturier’s signature craftsmanship. The crushed silk couture creation was crafted from over 50 meters of pure khadi silk.
Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla reimagined the classic Angrakha silhouette to highlight Tabu’s sculpted frame. The off-shoulder ensemble’s signature crushed texture, a hallmark of the designers’ heritage technique, brought timeless elegance to Tabu’s global debut in the HBO series, streaming November 17 on Max.
Addressing Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla as ‘The best of the best’ on her Instagram post, Tabu was styled by Naheed Driver. When quizzed about her red carpet look, Tabu spoke highly about the couturiers, speaking about her ensemble Tabu says, “It’s a custom-made dress. It’s taken like a month to create. It’s by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The most celebrated designers in India. I love them.”
Decoding Tabu’s look further, stylist Naheed Driver expresses, “The ensemble is a one-of-a-kind couture masterpiece that reimagines a classic Angrakha as a unique silhouette that complements Tabu’s sculpted shoulders and tall frame. It features the revival of Abu Sandeep’s ‘Crushed Silk’ collection, which was originally created by serendipity.”
She further adds, “Made with pure khadi silk, it has a crushed texture so hypnotic that it flows like an endless sea of maximal fabulosity. The texture is created by a secret signature technique discovered thirty-eight years ago. The garment has been hand-tailored with over fifty meters of silk that finds elegant expression in a mix of Indian heritage and Western style.”
Photographed by Tej Patel, Tabu’s ethereal look was further enhanced with a dazzling pair of earrings from Amrapali Jewels.
The American sci-fi TV series is a prequel to the movie, and along with Tabu who plays the role of Sister Francesca also features actors Emily Watson, Jessica Barden, Chloe Lea, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Olivia Williams, Jodhi May, Mark Strong and Jade Anouka among others.
