WWE icon Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been speculated to return at the 2025 Royal Rumble. With Roman Reigns and the OG Bloodline emerging triumphant in the Men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2024, the former stable member is reportedly close to making a blockbuster return to the company.
Days after the conclusion of Survivor Series, BetOnline shared an online report indicating The Rock could come back to the WWE on February 1 next year and win the Men’s Royal Rumble match. They shared a chart of the current odds for the men’s and women’s over-the-top-rope battle royal winners. As per the odds, The Rock is the favourite to win the upcoming event and headline WrestleMania 41.
Following a brief absence from the WWE, The Rock returned to the company during the Bad Blood premium live event in October 2024. He made a surprise return after Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns joined forces to defeat Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline in the main event. At the end of the match, The Rock emerged out of nowhere while holding his People’s Championship. The WWE star was greeted with a thunderous ovation from fans. He locked his eyes on Reigns and Rhodes and raised three fingers before making a swift exit.
After his return, The Rock reignited his feud with Rhodes. In a video, shot backstage, the Brahma Bull could be seen hailing praise on the American Nightmare’s father, Dusty Rhodes. Pointing towards the wrestling legend’s banner, the People’s Champion said, “You are The Rock’s hero, one of The Rock’s heroes right there, hard time. I love you.” He then added, “I hate your son.” A fan later shared the footage in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Rock was hugely involved in the WWE’s leading storyline between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns last year. He teamed up with his Samoan brother on Day 1 of WrestleMania 40 to take on the duo of Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The Brahma Bull pinned Rhodes to win the tag-team contest, sparking doubts over the American Nightmare’s chances to beat Reigns in the main event. However, Rhodes overcame all the odds to claim the Undisputed Championship.
As for next year’s Royal Rumble, there is no official confirmation of The Rock’s arrival at the signature WWE event. The show will be hosted at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
