Sickle cell disease is a condition causing severe bone pain and often requires blood transfusions.
Bastar, a beautiful region in Chhattisgarh, is renowned not only for its scenic landscapes but also for the medicinal value of its herbs. These herbs have shown promising results in treating serious diseases like sickle cell. Certified Vaidya (traditional healer) Mansingh Kawade, a resident of Devarti village in Kanker district, is making significant contributions by using natural remedies to treat patients free of cost. Speaking to Local18, Vaidya Mansingh shared that he inherited his knowledge of herbs from his grandfather and is dedicated to preserving this ancient wisdom. He educates others about the benefits of herbs to ensure this valuable tradition does not fade away. According to him, modern lifestyle changes and unhealthy eating habits are causing diseases that are often difficult to cure with allopathic medicines.
Vaidya Mansingh specialises in treating sickle cell disease, a condition causing severe bone pain and often requires blood transfusions. He explained that sickle cell occurs due to a lack of essential elements, particularly oxygen in the blood. “Our body is composed of the five elements — earth, water, air, fire, and sky. The imbalance in the air element is a key factor in sickle cell disease. “The herbs from Bastar help stabilise this imbalance and treat the disease effectively,” he said.
So far, over 500 patients from Chhattisgarh and other states have sought treatment for sickle cell at his center. With the support of the Piramal Foundation, camps are organised across India and even abroad to raise awareness about the healing properties of Bastar’s herbs. This initiative has saved people’s time, money, and lives, offering them a natural alternative for treatment.
