Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most enjoyed and longest-running Indian television shows. Over the years, the show has gone through a lot of changes, including the exit of some major actors and the introduction of new faces. One of the significant changes was seen in the character of Tapu. Originally played by Bhavya Gandhi, he was later replaced by Raj Anadkat. At present, actor Nitish Bhaluni plays the beloved character, son of Jethalal and Daya (played by Dilip Joshi and Daya Vakani).
Recently, during a chat with Pinkvilla, Bhaluni talked about his bonding with other members of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and shared the advice he received from Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal.
Bhaluni said, “Dilip Sir is an institution himself. You can learn a lot just by watching him, even when he’s not acting. He gave me one piece of advice at the beginning that really helped me, and I think all performers should heed to it. I’ve done drama previously, but this is a comedy. In humour, you should be loud. So, at first, I wondered how I was going to pull this off because it was so loud. If I wanted to be loud, I felt like I was overacting. So your conviction lacks.”
He added, “Dilip sir told me that whether I like it or not, I had to do it. So, it’s best to do things with conviction. ‘Tu isko hi saach maan le, aur isko hi saach maan ke kar (You embrace this as your truth and act on it),’ he told me, and it helped me a lot.”
The actor further shared his experience of working with Mandar Chandwadkar, who plays Bhide. He said, “Shooting at Bhide house is always fun. With Dilip sir, I tell myself to perform. But with Mandar uncle, it’s very chill.”
Moreover, Bhaluni also talked about having any pressure upon joining TMKOC. He said, “The pressure was not on how I would make this work; I had previously worked on shows and was familiar with the technical aspects. The pressure was on whether people like me. It was mainly about performance pressure.”
