The man was hired earlier this month for accounting role and was considered by his colleague as having “a quiet demeanour”.
A US national was arrested for allegedly stabbing the president of the company he worked in, according to media reports.
The man was identified as Nathan Mahoney, 32, who hailed from Michigan and worked at Anderson Express, according to Fox 17.
He was booked for assault with intent to murder, fleeing and eluding a police officer.
What Was The Incident?
According to Fox 17, the man walked into a conference room where a meeting was underway and stabbed the president of the company, Erik Denslow, with a knife. He fled the office and drove away after the incident, however, was arrested within an hour.
The police are investigating the case and are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
President Undergoes Surgery
The president of the company, who suffered an injury in the side just below the ribcage, was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery, according to a statement which also added that he is expected to make a full recovery.
“We remain in shock over the incident that happened at our plant yesterday. Our first thought is with our president, who has a good prognosis for a full and speedy recovery. We are also focused on supporting our employees as they process this senseless assault,” Mary Ann Sabo, a spokesperson for Anderson Express, told Fox 17.
Mahoney was employed at Anderson Express for an accounting role earlier this month. His colleagues described him as having “a quiet demeanour”.
“This is certainly by no means a case of ‘whodunit’. We’re not speculating on any motive in this case. But despite whatever redresses you might have against any individual, you cannot act violently against that person under any circumstances,” Matt Roberts, a trial attorney for the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office, said.
