Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah is not reachable, and his fate cannot be determined after an Israeli strike, Reuters reported citing a source. Hours after Israel launched one of the heaviest airstrikes on Beirut’s Dahiyeh area, Hezbollah had not made a statement on Nasrallah’s fate. Earlier, a source close to Hezbollah told Reuters that Nasrallah was alive and Iran’s state media also reported that he was safe. A senior Iranian security official has also said Tehran was checking the Hezbollah leader’s status. The New York Times quoted five Israeli officials as saying that intelligence agencies’ initial assessment was that Nasrallah had been killed.Meanwhile, a senior Israeli official told Reuters that top commanders of Hezbollah were the target of Israel’s strike on Beirut’s suburbs on September 27. The official, as per Reuters, added that it was too early to say whether the attack took out its leader Hassan Nasrallah.”I think it’s too early to say, but, you know, it’s a question of time. Sometimes they hide the fact when we succeed,” the official told reporters.
