World Kindness Day: History
World Kindness Day is a relatively new commemoration which began in 1998 following the formation of the World Kindness Movement (WKM). The World Kindness Movement (WKM) is a worldwide non-governmental organisation with no political or religious affiliation.
It was founded at a meeting in Tokyo in 1997, when Japan gathered together like-minded kindness organisations from all around the world. The WKM was later introduced in Singapore on November 18, 2000, at the 3rd WKM Conference, and in 2019, it was established as an NGO under Swiss law.
