WhatsApp has become a popular hub for sharing messages widely and people need a better source to check for the content being circulated.

The messaging app is testing a new way to verify web pages and even the text mentioned in a post that are forwarded to the mass. The Android beta version 2.24.20.28 has shown traits of a new feature that will add another layer of tools while you search for the links on the web.
WhatsApp Web Link Search: What It Looks Like
The details about the upcoming feature come via WaBetaInfo who shares the sense and purpose of this tool now being tested in beta. You might say that WhatsApp already has an easy way to search for links, so how is the upcoming tool any different?
WhatsApp realises that the app can be used to forward suspicious and fake news content and even manipulate it to spread widely.
But giving people the option to not only get information about the link but also cross-check if the text provided in the link is accurate and matches with the public information on the internet.
“When users choose to search for more information about a link, only the specific message containing the link will be uploaded to Google for the search,” the tipster explains in the post. ‘The refined feature aims to make it easier for users to identify potentially harmful links and take appropriate action,” the post adds.
WhatsApp assures the feature will be optional and only work if the user opts for it. More importantly, the feature does not share the message with the platform to make sure the content remains private and not stored anywhere on its servers. WhatsApp works on many features but this upcoming one could be one of its biggest additions.
