WhatsApp already lets you make calls but soon it will have all the features so that you don’t need to leave it at all.
WhatsApp is a messaging app, a calling app and does a lot more too. And soon, the platform will have its own dialer tab for iPhone users. Having a dialer means you can rely on the messaging app itself to call someone, who is most likely going to have a WhatsApp account as well. Some might question the need for such a feature but it is obvious that the Meta-owned platform wants to become a one-stop hub for all your needs, including calls.
iPhone Dialer App On WhatsApp
The details about this upcoming feature come via WaBetaInfo this week, which says the dialer app will open when you click on the + icon on your WhatsApp feed. We’ve heard about similar functions on the Android version earlier and now it seems the platform is ready to offer the same for the iPhone users.
Having its own dialer app means WhatsApp users don’t need to rely on the default dialer that is provided by Google and Apple. Android users get the option to use third-party apps as their default calling or message app. And soon, Apple will offer this option for iPhone users with the new iOS 18.2 and later updates.
The only big caveat of using the WhatsApp dialer will be that you are completely locked into the messaging app’s ecosystem, which means any call that you make will be a WhatsApp call. That might work in most countries, but for people in India, where feature phones are still a big chunk of the market, the WhatsApp dialer support might not be the ideal option.
WhatsApp has also added new updates to its calling feature recently. You now get video calls in higher resolution, users can make calls to people from the groups separately and more.
