Amazon is making a big change to the number of devices you can use to watch Prime Video shows and movies in India.

The new device is already given on your Prime account in India.

Amazon Prime users will start seeing their money offer less features in India from January 2025 onwards. The company has notified its customers in the country about a major change that affects your streaming access on the big screen and more devices. Other popular streaming apps like Netflix have changed their viewing rules in recent years and now Amazon is ready to pull the plug and limit your options for watching its shows and movies.

Amazon Prime Users Device Limit Up Change: What Happens In 2025

The new message is being via email to existing Prime users in India and here’s what it says:

“Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.”

Amazon has offered support for up to five devices for many years, without putting a limit on the type of devices you can stream content from your account. However, the new 2025 change means only 2 TVs will be allowed to run out of the 5, the rest could be mobile, tablet or even laptop using the web version. “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices,” the note adds.

This is definitely a big downgrade for people who are paying Rs 1,499 every year to use Amazon’s bouquet of services that come under the Prime membership. The other interesting part of the message is the use of the word household, which has become active and meaningful for those using Netflix as well these days.

Streaming platforms are blocking the option to share accounts with people, which Netflix claims to have worked in its favour. Some are limiting the device support, which at one point didn’t matter for people using Prime Video and similar apps in the country. In fact, we are now seeing ad-free models being introduced which takes you back to the cable TV days when ads were fairly common on the big screen.

You can get more details from the Amazon Prime page on your account and manage the devices that are signed in with your Prime ID.
