Android 15 is the latest version but the new security alert is a concern for millions who can be hacked easily.

The new security alert is important for Android 15 devices as well.

Android users, even those on the latest 15 version have got alarming news from the Indian government this week. The security agency under the centre has issued a risk alert with a high-severity rating that can expose their device to hackers who can gain access and steal data.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has made the warning public on November 25 and millions of Android users in the country should treat it as an urgent message.

Android 15 Security Risk: What You Should Know

The security note is not only directed at Android 15 but it is worrying that the latest version is equally vulnerable to these threats. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, System, Google Play system updates, Kernel, Kernel LTS, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components,” what the CERT-In note says.

So what happens if the hacker is able to take advantage of these issues? “It could allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges, execute arbitrary code or cause denial of service (DoS) condition on the targeted system,” the note adds.

These are the Android versions that are at risk because of the given issues:

– Android 12

– Android 12L

– Android 13

– Android 14

– Android 15

If you noticed that Android 11 is missing from the list that’s because Google has stopped support for the version so they won’t be updated anymore.

Android phones running on MediaTek and Qualcomm processors can be counted in millions, so the issue is clearly a concern, not only for the government but the users as well.

The new patches have already been issued by most brands and we suggest you take it seriously and install the new version or update right away. You can do this by going to Settings – Software update and install the new available version to protect your phone.
