She wears it with a long-sleeved blouse called Hanju, typically made from a silk material known as Khichen.
The bride also completes her look with a special jacket, a scarf and jewellery adorned with large stones like pearls, corals and turquoise, which are often worn around her neck and forehead. While there is no set colour requirement, black is generally avoided because it is considered inauspicious.
The groom’s outfit is similar as he too wears a Bhaku, though his version is shorter, ending just above the ankles. He pairs this with a waistcoat known as Lajha. To finish the look, the groom wears a matching brocade cap and a sash around his waist.
