Children’s Day, also known as Bal Diwas, is celebrated on November 14 in India. The day is observed to honour and recognise children as the future of the country. This date also commemorates the birth anniversary of the nation’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, known for his love of children, believed that children were the nation’s ultimate asset. So his birthday is honoured as Children’s Day to demonstrate the nation’s dedication to improving the lives of its youngsters.

Children’s Day 2024: How To Celebrate
- Picnics: Celebrate this wonderful day out with your children by taking them to the park for a traditional picnic with good food, games, and other necessities. Children’s Day picnics are all about family and quality time with your children. You can prepare your children’s favourite foods on this day and also invite their friends.
- Movie Day: This Children’s Day, plan a movie marathon for your kids. Screen some of their favourite movies and make them popcorn and other snacks they enjoy.
- Quiz: As teachers, you can prepare a quiz contest for the students so they can understand and appreciate the significance of this day. It doesn’t matter if they can’t answer all of their questions; they’ll leave the classroom more informed.
- Attend special events: Shopping centres and malls often organise special events to commemorate Children’s Day. The festivities involve a variety of games and activities designed to keep children engaged and entertained. All of the children receive prizes and goodies for participating in the games. It could also include other activities such as dancing and theatrical performances in which children can participate and demonstrate their talents.
- Sports Day: Organise a mini sports day at school. Plan simple activities such as the sack race, three-legged race, and tug-of-war. Create certificates or medals for the participants to ensure a memorable and competitive Children’s Day celebration.
