Hackers allegedly connected to Iranian intelligence have reportedly exposed sensitive data on Israeli nuclear and defence officials, sparking significant concerns about cybersecurity and national security in Israel. According to Haaretz, the leaked information includes personal details, photos, and official documents linked to nuclear scientists and defence personnel, with specific mention of a leading scientist at the Soreq Nuclear Research Center. The breach, suspected to stem from hacked phones and email accounts, includes images related to the SARAF particle accelerator project and private information from multiple high-ranking officials. Despite questions over the origin of some leaked material, analysts note that this alleged Iranian cyber operation has amplified its impact through influence campaigns designed to create fear and deterrence. Israel’s cybersecurity experts warn that such data leaks could lead to targeted phishing and heightened security risks. The incident occurs amid an ongoing wave of sophisticated cyberattacks on Israeli state institutions, adding to existing tensions between Israel and Iran.
