Russia’s FSB said it blocked an attempt to organize the hijacking of a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber and fly it to Ukraine on July 8. The agency said Kyiv’s spies offered a Russian air force pilot money and Italian citizenship if he agreed to fly the aircraft to Ukraine. The FSB said it also uncovered the involvement of special services of NATO countries in the failed hijacking. In April, Ukraine claimed to have downed the first Tu-22M Russian long-range bomber in a drone strike. However, the Russian defence ministry said the bomber crashed as it was returning from a mission in Ukraine “due to technical malfunction.” Watch the video to find out more.
