Manchester United legend David Beckham opined that the restructuring of the club would take time, but believes that new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was the right man to oversee the transition.

The most successful side in the history of English football, Man United, have been far from their glory days since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013 and are yet to clinch the PL crown since the Scot called time on his managerial career.

United languish in the 14th spot in the table ahead of Brentford’s visit to the fabled Old Trafford in the PL on Saturday and Beckham threw his weight behind INEOS boss Ratcliffe lauding the 71-year-old’s passion for the club.

“I really like Jim. I’ve met him a few times over the years with a few mutual friends and I think that he’s a fan and obviously he’s a great businessman as well, one of the best and one of the biggest,” Beckham said.

“But I think more importantly the fans see that he cares, and I think that’s a big part of it,” the former number 7 added.

“I think obviously the fans had lost faith with the leadership over the years and obviously he really cares about what he wants to do and what he wants to create,” the former English skipper said.

“So, hopefully, things will change but these things take time,” Beckham continued.

“I think we have been quite patient as United fans over the years but we want those good old days back. We want those days back and the sooner the better,” the English centurion said.

Beckham owns MLS side Inter Miami, who recently clinched the MLS Supporters’ Shield presented to the team with the best regular season record, also opened up on seeking counsel from the legendary Sir Alex during the inception phase of the American club.

“I went to him once and said to him, ‘I’m starting this team, how would you run it?’,” he said.

“And he sat me down for a couple of hours and he told me what I should do and what players I should be looking for and how I should run the academy,” Beckham revealed.

He also reached out to Real Madrid boss Florentino Perez to get his thoughts on how to take the club forward.

“And that’s really what I’ve tried to do. And then I also learnt from people like (Real Madrid president) Florentino Perez. You know, with Florentino, he has this crazy vision of always bringing the greatest players to the club and building this unbelievable stadium,” Beckham added.
