While there isn’t much expected of you as a wedding guest, there are some guidelines you may follow to be the best wedding guest and make your hosts’ lives simpler.
Here are a few wedding etiquette you should observe as a guest, including everything from RSVPing to dining.
RSVP Is A Must
It is not typical to send a formal RSVP to someone who has invited you to their wedding in India. However, it is recommended that you verbally confirm whether or not you will be attending. It is also advised that you respond as soon as you receive the invitation. Respect the fact that couples arrange their entire wedding day and its budget around the number of guests.

Be On Time For The Wedding
One of the most important wedding etiquette guidelines is to arrive and leave on time, especially if you are responsible for hosting any ceremony. Showing up on time ensures that all events run smoothly and that no one is uncertain on the special day. When wedding guests come late, the festivities are pushed back, potentially causing delays in time-sensitive areas.
Eat And Drink Responsibly
While you must enjoy the excellent food and drinks, avoid overindulgence in any form. Do not waste food or get too drunk at a marriage party where alcohol is served.
Refrain From Negative Comments
Talking ill about wedding arrangements to other guests is strictly against wedding etiquette norms. Weddings are a culmination of the family’s choices so it’s crucial to respect the couple’s preferences. So, whether it’s something like choosing flowers for decor or ceremonies, keep negative thoughts to yourself and call out those who criticise as well.

Get An Appropriate Gift
It is customary for guests to bring a wedding present unless the couple has specifically requested otherwise. Choose something insightful, and distinctive, but not too personal. Gifts should be intended for the pair rather than the individual with whom you connect.
Follow Social Media Rules
When it comes to wedding etiquette, social media is sometimes overlooked. Unless the couple specifically requests that guests share pictures on social media, do not post any wedding photos on social media before them. Also, do not broadcast the event under any circumstances.
